|So this was a pick I took at Fort Western. The best view you can get from the original window.|
Some of you may know me by my first account on here that will no longer let me in CSdiggydogart.
I am a self taught artist in mixed medium. I Draw, Paint, Sculpt, Photography, Design, T-shhirts, Jewlery, Dream Catchers and this list can go on and on. Recently I have gotten into Adobe and have been having fun learning all I can on my own time. Sadly my computer is dying so that is on hold until I can get a new one. My Many thing right now is Photography and sculpting.
Alright, this journal is a little bit of a rant and a little bit of a question.
I haven’t been drawing much, as I have been tired lately. I am working on some ideas for something big, I am wanting to do. This got me thinking of my work so far and what others have thought about my work. To be honest I have not really had to many bad experiences on here. I have really only had two. One where I was called an amateur for using water marks and apparently plagiarizing something I drew from mind to page. A character from a show by an Art group on here, when I tried to share my work with them.
It didn’t sit well with me when they accused me of this. Because I didn’t and I was younger and it hurt. I was told that for them to submit it I would have to find the episode or page I look it up from and put the real artist name. Which I am the real artist of said piece of art and can’t do any of the rest of it as you would have had to be looking at something for it to be a reference.
I in no way shape or form took credit for the characters, just the drawing its self. But that is not the confusing part. As I was flipping through my drawings on here, I came accosted the picture this group was being stupid about. In the line under my account name the very first Tag is FAN ART followed by ANIME/MANGA followed by Traditional and then Other.
Now this is my question, how the hell can a group accuse an artist of PLAGIARIZING when in the description under an artist user name, highlighted in blue is FAN-ART and not just that but the genre of the fan-art?
That right there tells everyone that the drawing is of something you yourself did not come up with but liked the concept to and made a variation of it.
My second question is, should group’s that do not use common scenes and start throwing the P word around when you have clearly shown that you are not the original person who came up with the idea of the subject matter but this is your interposition of said subject, meant as a compliment to the original artist, be allowed to stay a functioning group?
Which they are still and for some reason have yet to remove me from their group even after being asked to remove me, by me. Yeah weird that.
If there is evident that someone did do a big old P word then yes that person should be called out rightfully so. I agree with that completely.
But it would be interesting to hear you thoughts and opinion’s on the matter.
